The owner of the store, A.E. Runge, Jr, or Tad as his friends and customers call him, represents the most recent generation of Runges to become committed to appreciation of older and antique oriental carpets. The tradition was started by his great grandfather Edward Runge who bought and sold oriental rugs on Fifth Avenue in New York starting in the1880s.

The present business and store has been located on Main Street in Yarmouth since 1987.

Its’ large inventory of handmade orientals has been purchased almost entirely from estates and private individuals in New England and Europe. Most date between 1900 to 1930 and are chosen for that difficult to find combination of aesthetic beauty, exceptional condition, and fair value.

The store that is open five days a week and we invite you to come visit us on you next trip to the beautiful State of Maine. The store is located at 108 Main Street in Yarmouth.(directions). The Town of Yarmouth is itself worthy of a visit with its old New England village and picturesque waterfront. With the majority of my customers living out side of Maine there are many arrangements that can be made if a visit is not in order.
