Washing
A.E. Runge, Jr Oriental Rugs is the only oriental rug business in Maine that has it’s own washroom. We still wash orientals the old fashioned way We beat them to remove the dirt and then handwash them using gentle detergents, and then rinse them several times and air dry. We do not shampoo rugs.

Repair and restoration
We offer both our customers and the public, access to our oriental rug repair and restoration services. Whether it is basic edge, end repair or major restoration, we would be happy to quote you a not to exceed price for the work. We can only give approximations from photographs.

Appraisals
Tad Runge specializes in doing appraisals of pre WW2 rugs for:
1) Insurance/replacement values
2) Estate Appraisal for estate executors, trust officers and lawyers’ and
3) adjustment work for the insurance industry.
He can not do written appraisals from photographs.
Free verbal appraisals are offered at the shop.

Consultants
We enjoy working with museums and clients who contract with us to examine and report on pieces that are offered to them in either private or public venues.
